It's about damn time! I hope these scam artists are exposed for what they really are. Unfortunately, the "faithful" will probably rally 'round their leaders, screaming "persecution." But some may leave, and it may be another expose' that turns more young people off to the church. What do you think?Acting on tips about preachers who ride in Rolls Royces and have purportedly paid $30,000 for a conference table, the top Republican on the Senate Finance Committee said Tuesday he's investigating the finances of six well-known TV ministers.Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa said those under scrutiny include faith healer Benny Hinn, Georgia megachurch pastor Creflo Dollar and one of the nation's best known female preachers, Joyce Meyer.http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5hyJXUzspCsKqZSfzvWuBli3_DM-gD8SOGHQO0

I agree...

I'm NOT   hopeful of the outcomes either.

The Brethren..Hillsong also have been scrutinised (somewhat) here in Aust.....zilch happens! Seems their support of the current "Liberal" /conservative Govenment is paying off. ? Religious money seems to be 'lucky' like that.

--------------------------------------------------------------
In exchange for obedience, Christianity promises salvation in an afterlife; but in order to elicit obedience through this promise, Christianity must convince people that they need salvation, that there is something to be saved from. Christianity has nothing to offer a happy person living in a natural, intelligible universe. If Christianity is to gain a motivational foothold, it must declare war on earthly pleasure and happiness, and this, historically, has been its precise course of action. In the eyes of Christianity, woman(man) is sinful and helpless in the face of God, and is potential fuel for the flames of hell. Just as Christianity must destroy reason before it can introduce faith, so it must destroy happiness before it can introduce salvation.

Good. I've always felt there's a special place in hell reserved for those who profit from the misery of others and the current crop of televanglist certainly qualify. The "Health and Wealth Gospel" is, IMNSHO, one of the cruelest pieces of bullshit on the airwaves. To tell people who are already having problems that said problems are caused by a lack of faith and the best way to show faith is to send what little they have to a con-artist and liar is just about as low as a person can get.

Given the fact that a number of them are spending a LOT of time and $$$$ to influence members of our government and push their RRR agenda, they need to be looked at more closely and if nessessary, their tax-exempt status yanked.

They are tax exempt?! What a scam! No wonder there's so many of them at it.

I'm temporarily speechless...

Churches in the U.S. are tax exempt. Always have been. It's how bullies and nutballs like Robertson, Phelps and the late Falwell (not to mention serious nut cases like L. Ron Hubbard and Jim Jones) flourish here.

Yes, I'm suspicious when I see them dressed so nicely-Joyce Meyer has a private plane!  Creflo Dollar certainly dresses nicely-I heard the Pope wears red leather Prada shoes-probably gets them free!

It's time they answered for their expenses!

Happy Monday, snakey!

When I was younger, I remember Ernest Angley saying: "Why wait for your pie in the sky by and by when you can have it right now with ice cream on top?"
