What did you guys think of the election?  Do you think the next four years will be good ones or bad ones?  Just offer up your thoughts and insights on where you think the US is headed in the next few years.

RECESSION

lots of belt tightening for the middle class..the poor - well they're fucked and the rich ...well maybe they won't be receiving as much 'welfare' as they expect to get from the public purse in future.
&
lots of budget meal ideas on the telly!

also.......

"take us'...
interesting language which says quite a bit I think....an expectation of sorts...
why put all the hopes of an entire nation on one man??

I this kind of thinking as being part of the problem.
Its the system that's faulty...and its unlikely that will change with a new government...the establishment is still much the same.

anyhow...
I'd say...there will be an initial honeymoon period...
Obama will back track to the ways of the Clinton era...at least that would be a positive scenario. I would hope that he reviews his foriegn policy for example and uses more sense than his current promise of more american brute force in afganistan.....

I think christianity within politics is not likely to take much of a back seat any time soon...although the evangelicals are needing to regroup and re fill some of the losses..the deaths and the scam artists/cheats of the last few years.

Umm...the bible belt will go on as per usual - schools teaching crap and praying in front of the flag...(does't take an einstin to see that)

I don't know...I think it will be many many years before the usa regains some of the world's  respect that was lost in the last decade or so...There needs to be a great effort in diplomacy towards its business partners etc.

Change is definately in the air..but it has nothing to do with a new president. It was time for the democrates to win - part of the natural cycle - you only have to review history to see that.

--------------------------------------------------------------
In exchange for obedience, Christianity promises salvation in an afterlife; but in order to elicit obedience through this promise, Christianity must convince people that they need salvation, that there is something to be saved from. Christianity has nothing to offer a happy person living in a natural, intelligible universe. If Christianity is to gain a motivational foothold, it must declare war on earthly pleasure and happiness, and this, historically, has been its precise course of action. In the eyes of Christianity, woman(man) is sinful and helpless in the face of God, and is potential fuel for the flames of hell. Just as Christianity must destroy reason before it can introduce faith, so it must destroy happiness before it can introduce salvation.
