Hello everyone,Congratulations! I takes a lot of courage to leave a fundamentalist church. A word of warning : The book that I am recommending below is about the difference between spirituality and how it differs from conventional religion. You are probably very angry at the moment. If that anger is directed at anything involving the religion and God, please ignore this message. It's wouldn't be appropriate for you right now. If your anger is directed at the concept of a vengeful god and a self-righteous, dogmatic "flock", youwill probably get a little more from this book. One of the books that has strongly influenced me is Wayne Teasdale's "The Mystic Heart". It is aboutspirituality and how it is present in all religions.I doesn't seek to prove or disprove christianity or any other religion, just explain the universal nature of religious experience.I haveapproached the problem of theChristian church from a different side than mostof you. I was raised in afundamentalist, "fire and brimstone"christian fellowship (among "faith healing", prophesying and confidence tricksters). Mymainproblemwith the christian faith (aside from the power placed in corruptand deeply flawed ministers) is theassumption thatanybody who does not believe will "burn in hell". This book is putting forth the suggestion that the experience of God and leading a moral + spiritually aware life is different from adhering to any specific faith.Anyhow, Best of luck with your journey.
