As a recovering former fundamentalist Christian, I commend everyone who has had the courage to walk away from their involvement in the born-again Christian subculture and begin the process of taking back control of their lives from what is essentially a personal fantasy of having a "relationship with God". The Christian "believer" may share this fantasy with other like-minded Christian "believers," but there is absolutely no objective reality to their experience. This collective fantasy is simply not true. I would like to offer to correspond with anyone who is struggling with the process of breaking free from what I term the "fundamentalist mindset," that black-and-white perceptual set that divides humanity into two classes (the "saved" and the "unsaved") and produces an unhealthy preoccupation with the "salvation experience". There is more to life than Christ. Keep in mind that breaking free from fundamentalist Christianity is not always an easy thing to do. In fact, the so-called "refractory" or "recovery" period may last a lifetime.
