K... This is my first time on here and at the moment Im so confused Ive got no idea who I am.For starters Ive been a christian for about two years now at the middle of last year I was baptised and completely dedicated my life God. For the past 2 or 3 months I have been doubting my faith and doubting the bible. It allseems so perfect its impossible... A few nights ago I made the decision to leave christianity.. Ive told my two best mates (who are both strong christians) they werent happy about it or supportive but the understood... I dont know how to my family though... Can anyone help me????
Hiya..FunkyGkat.
Its your life ..and your decision. You don't have to please anyone, your friends or family. It will be a bit tricky if you family are very devout christian - they will not understand............however, like Mothy says..its their problem not yours. You have to look after yourself ....especially for the time being & while you are going through a change. I think..everyone goes through 'stuff' when they change their minds - and that can be about anything! Changing courses, changing partners, changing friendships...allsorts.!
I also think its a great tip to remember that you have a right to your own privacy......so its up to YOU when and what you tell anyone about your inner thoughts. Often xians are taught to confess stuff.....................forget it. You don't have to......nor do you have to show up to church for any one's benefit.
You can do it!

In exchange for obedience, Christianity promises salvation in an afterlife; but in order to elicit obedience through this promise, Christianity must convince people that they need salvation, that there is something to be saved from. Christianity has nothing to offer a happy person living in a natural, intelligible universe. If Christianity is to gain a motivational foothold, it must declare war on earthly pleasure and happiness, and this, historically, has been its precise course of action. In the eyes of Christianity, woman(man) is sinful and helpless in the face of God, and is potential fuel for the flames of hell. Just as Christianity must destroy reason before it can introduce faith, so it must destroy happiness before it can introduce salvation.
