Barack Obama will unite our nation, and bring us into the true cultural beginnings of The Twenty-first Century.

People want something different. No twenty-eight years under two names. No Clinton dynasty. No hundred years in Iraq. We are a republic, not an empire.

Here comes a new era.  I'm going to the first primary that I am enthusiastic about.

"Our Time for change has come."

I think he comes across as a dickhead!
A crispyclean Newagey Bapist preacher who has a knack for making 'the good' speech......& who flies at the speed of jetplane to visit his 'bro's' in Africa.
Its like Opraha Winfry on Morphine....(she shits me too)
Great Marketing....but its NOthing NEw!
More 'christian' values ...

the 'saviour' to unite?.........................Ha!

Pissweak..political slogan too...they (politicians) all use that one......."time for a change"....Ohderrr.....Lets make a list of all the political parties around the globe who have used that one.

The only ground breaking thing about the man is his skin colour..........and isn't that fucked up. Why not an Italian..or any other ethnicity. ?

At least Bush is vacating the seat.....but I think it will be a long time before the US wins back the respect of the world that its enjoyed during the Clinton era and prior to this particular era of Bush and the Christians.

(I have a feeling that the Christians generally..have lost much of their political usefulness these days.....in Aust too)

In exchange for obedience, Christianity promises salvation in an afterlife; but in order to elicit obedience through this promise, Christianity must convince people that they need salvation, that there is something to be saved from. Christianity has nothing to offer a happy person living in a natural, intelligible universe. If Christianity is to gain a motivational foothold, it must declare war on earthly pleasure and happiness, and this, historically, has been its precise course of action. In the eyes of Christianity, woman(man) is sinful and helpless in the face of God, and is potential fuel for the flames of hell. Just as Christianity must destroy reason before it can introduce faith, so it must destroy happiness before it can introduce salvation.

Opps...I forgot to sign on as well...

How come it seems so IMPOSSIBLE for an atheist to win an election in the States these days?

I forgot to mention ..that I find B. Obama type of 'liberal' christianity just as horrifying as any full on Fundamentalist. At least with a a fundie you can pin them down....with a  'liberal' its like trying pin jello to the ceiling.  The 'liberal' christian are less willing to take responsiblity for the bullshit or tactics of christianity in general....you know...throw their hands up in the air.."wasn't us"...

All that 'baby in the bathwater' bullshit!

I voted for Obama. My state went for him too. I think he's the next best thing to Kucinich (who dropped out before WA has our caucus).

I think that part of my support for Obama is that I have become pretty anti-Hillary. At first I really loved her but her insistance that the Dem party allow Florida to sit even though they broke the rules by moving their primary up and then the whole flap over the Chelsea "pimp" thing...her behaviour is just ridiculous. Worse, she represents "business as usual" and I'm just sick of that.

When I listen to Obama I *believe* what he says. He gives me hope for the US again. And I think his policies are well thought out and good.

My two cents.

Yeah, it would be a first if either of them won the US presidency.  Either the first woman President or the first black President.  Politically I'm closer to Hilary Clinton though Obama seems more genuine and radical.

Yep...I can see how Hilary would be shitting some off. She presents a very conservative standpoint from what little I know.  She's running behind OB now.

The thing about OB for me....are my observations of  his 'followers'. He seems to have inspired a messianic kind of loyality ..an almost religious devotion - praise and songs.
I don't 'trust' that kind of thing ...especially after the impact on the world of Bush and his policies - ie. invading Iraq and telling lies about it. etc.

I think it would be wise for american's to remain alert and not blindly follow anyone ...and learn from the past ..the most recent past - remember the lies and remember that ALL politicians are trying to sell you something...............not to mention tell flat out lies. In other words if anyone 'believes' that a politician is tellling the truth and nothing but the truth, then thats fucked.

Is that a American thing? the loyalty/praising shit.............the politicians here in Aust doen't inspire that kind of thing from residents here. Nor do the population  respond to politicians (any)  in anyway close to that. ?

I do think its very definitely an 'american thing' to be unaware of what goes on politically in other countries...
Yet most people know a bit about what's going down in the US and take an interest...ie. chirpy and I.
