I'm still hoping that Jaci Velasquez will one day join "The Dark Side." She's got a much better voice than Rebecca St. James or Shirley Manson, and she's bi-lingual. Okay, I confess, I just had to watch 10-12 of her videos just now, and I'm a little disappointed to not find "If This World." Most of her songs are just way too slow, but that one's not. It seems that she sang at the White House lately, for W., according to one video at YouTube. He's a fan of her too, I guess--that figures! Well, Ozzy has been invited before, so I guess they had to invite her, but W. didn't ask Ozzy to sing. I would've liked to have heard him and the boys from Aston perform "Sweet Leaf." I heard on the radio the other day for the first time about Crosby, Stills, & Nash when they were invited to the White House in '77 by shit-eatin' grin Jimmy Carter, and lit-up a joint in The Oval Office when someone made the grave mistake of leaving them unsupervised for a few minutes. Why does the term "Oval Office" seem pornographic to me just now? Maybe George Carlin can use that, if he hasn't already. He probably has... Anyway, according to some burnt-out dj that I listen to regularly, it is supposed to be a true story... Hippie music... They're both christians and good entertainment. I don't reckon on Corinne Bailey Rae who is actually a Brethren fundy. God, she's awful and really boring as well as pretentious and hypocritical in her attitude towards the Sugababes and the Pussycat Dolls. Luckily I've seen them all live on stage except for CBR. Watching the Brit Awards at the moment and I've been voting by text on my mobile phone for the various categories. It's great fun voting against CBR as well as for my favourite acts though it's quite difficult choosing as there are two or three in each category who are equally good. The Brits are much more fun to watch than the Grammys which I saw a repeat of last night on television. It suddenly occurred to me this morning that I had actually spoken to a former Grammy award winner in London late last year. British of course but then it's not easy for a British singer or band to win a Grammy award. There isn't a special category at the Grammys for international artists as there is at the Brits where every other award category is international (the rest for homegrown talent) and it's nearly always an American act who wins it and occasionally a Canadian or Irish - as in Republic of Ireland not Northern Ireland which belongs to the UK.

I didn't bother watching the Grammies this year...and sadly we didn't get the British version on our screen, unless I totally missed it. I love English music but I must admit I'm more fond on the oldies, like the Clash, Depeche Mode, Annie Lenox, Allison Moyer, umm....heaps and heaps...I love what you call the British beat. wow...fancy getting to rub shoulders. (I love one of our young up and coming local bands ...."Wolfmother")
