Whats new with y'all?  I miss y'all heathens...I used to spend so much time here and really enjoy and benefit from the discussions and revealing conversations.  Seems Facebook and Myspace have completely marginalized forums such as this one...this just ain't the kind of site you can visit on a daily or even weekly basis and read something new....where did everyone go?  What have you all been up to?  Did you all go back to church or something?  Shit, let me know, I really miss the old crowd!....this place used to be like Cheers for me.  So anyway, PLEASE give me an update and let me know whats been happening in your life.  Keep it out of your butt, snakechic!

Best Regards,

ted5870

In exchange for obedience, Christianity promises salvation in an afterlife; but in order to elicit obedience through this promise, Christianity must convince people that they need salvation, that there is something to be saved from. Christianity has nothing to offer a happy person living in a natural, intelligible universe. If Christianity is to gain a motivational foothold, it must declare war on earthly pleasure and happiness, and this, historically, has been its precise course of action. In the eyes of Christianity, woman(man) is sinful and helpless in the face of God, and is potential fuel for the flames of hell. Just as Christianity must destroy reason before it can introduce faith, so it must destroy happiness before it can introduce salvation.

Greetings, Ted & Snack Chic (Ms. Crabby Cakes) !!

I stopped listening to Ozzy...  All that doom, gloom, hate, death & destruction was making me very depressed--there's another side to life!  I destroyed my whole heavy metal cd collection.  That's one of the reasons why I've been able to get off all the medications and maintain sobriety for over 19 months.

Don't like the song?  Sorry, Snakey...  There's a neat picture of Uluru at 0:48.

Anyway, I'm glad that y'all are both still here!  I wish Voltaire would come back and I hope everybody else is still okay.

Keep on the sunny side,
Supertzar

"another side to life'...

You mean...from black to white?

Haha...(not that funny thou')

Why is it so typical  that christianity (& or some personalities) have such a narrow view of things. Music or external mechanisms seems to be blamed for all kinds of stuff.

If only mental illnessess such as depression were so simple to explain.

So...what's the name of your church?

Destroyed your collection?
Ah...did you also burn the usual 'dark/evil' book?

"keep on the sunny side"
Isn't that kinda an impossible task...to keep life censored from 'dark' things - unhappy feelings?

What are dark things anyway...? shit music? Gawdblimey Missy...
I suppose your screen name 'Supertzar' isn't kosher either.

*chuckles*

Hello, Snakechic!

Yeah, I left the dark side!  Typical?    Heehee!  My view is extremely broad...I can see for miles!  I'm not a one-trick pony...  I've held almost every position before--I've been in 3 different Christian denominations, was a humanist for awhile, then an agnostic, and finally an atheist for 7-1/2 years.  I've also studied other religions, including buddhism and new age stuff.  I even thought of myself as a satanist for awhile, but now I've come full-circle.

As for the music, I had to get rid of it and the "dark/evil" books in order to escape the clutches of satan, and I had to do it in order for Jesus Christ to take me back!  It is NOT a joke.  It's a matter of life and death.  Satan wants to DESTROY you!  You MUST choose sides: black or white.  If you move into the white side, you will be protected--you will be saved!    You have to do that in order for God to recognize you as one of His own.  He can't see you when you're in the dark.  Remember that God is waiting to call you His son or daughter!

Mental illnesses such as depression can be caused by lots of things.  We all have unhappy feelings from time to time and are faced with dark things that happen in this world.  But that's exactly what God wants to help us with!  That's the amazing thing!  He talks to me, and He wants to talk to you too!  Remember the name, "Counselor" from the Bible?  God does send the Holy Spirit!  That's NOT a joke, either!

But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.  Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.   --John 14:26-27, NIV.

I was gonna change my screen name, but if I did, nobody would know who I am!  Besides, if I changed it, I would lose all 9,869 of my hours!!  I've been at Walk Away from the beginning, as "Demas Faithwrecker."  By the way, I'm back in the Baptist church.  I could have chosen any of them though--they're all good!  I can tell you more about that if you're interested.  Any other questions or comments?

Love ya, Snakey!

The metal just don't affect me like it used to...its cathartic and refreshing to hear a good dose of Ozzy or Sab every now and then, but yeah, I just can't sit there and play it all day and envelop myself into a cocoon of despair anymore.  Thats a bitch about getting older, I suppose, not getting to delve into self-pity and negativism as much as I used to....causes you to start developing neuroses and psychoses, social anxiety, a whole bunch of bad shit.

But I'm a rock n roll soldier and I will be til the day I die.  You could have sent me your metal collection instead of destroying it, butthead.  I woulda paid shipping n everything.  But I know how it goes....I destroyed all my shit back in like '95.  Wish I had all them fuckin cassettes back now...lot of em weren't ever even released on CD format.

Hey Ted, how are ya doing?  I'm glad you're still alive--I know about the "cocoon of despair."  I was on medication and seeing a psychiatrist for alcoholism, depression, and social anxiety.  It's good to know you're doing better now!

I busted my entire metal collection up with a hammer one sunny day in '98 when I got back into church.  I burned all of the liner notes.  They were all cassettes and I had some old and rare ones too.  By the end of 2000, I had left church and turned my back on God for the same reasons that many of the other people here have.  After a brief period of agnosticism, it didn't take long for me to become a full-blown atheist.  When I got bored with that, I would dabble in satanism and the occult.

Then, I hit rock bottom in the summer of '07.  I was a selfish, hate-filled alcoholic without a job.  God came to me a few months later and made it clear to me that I had to choose between Him and satan.  God made it clear to me that I was on the enemy's side, and I was gonna die and spend eternity in hell if I didn't throw down arms and come back to His side.  I had to clean all the skeletons out of my closet--it was do or die!  So, I destroyed my music collection for the second time in the spring of 2008.  By this time, my collection was all digital and bigger than ever!  I had been rebuilding it for seven years.  It was a turning point.  I went through the whole house pulling all those mind-polluting things off the shelf and throwing them into garbage bags--ouija board, tarot cards, and all of my books on atheism, dystopias, and buddhism too.  Anyway, I'm much better now!  God speaks to me throughout the day!

You probably don't realize it right now, Ted, but God was talking to you when you destroyed your music back in '95.  He told you to do that--you were listening to Him speak, but didn't realize it.  His voice is very subtle.  Remember the "still, small voice?"  Well, that was the Creator of the universe talkin' to you, and He's got the future in His hands!

Nobody has to give up rock n' roll--that's the fundamentalist mindset.  Check out this band called Deliverance:

Hi from Moth
(Date Posted:02/27/2009 20:26:33)

Hey Snakey... you out there?

I've finally bit the bullet and separated from my wife, after 20 years of marriage, ... it was a long time coming and we're both happy to be starting new lives. As you know, we were co-erced into marrying at the young age of 17 because we 'fornicated' and not because we were in love. We were never able to grow into 'love' which our pastor said would happen.

I'm in love with another woman (Jo), and we're going to be fine, and I'm finally going to be happy. Happiness and 'love' are things I've never really experienced fully, and so far it's fucking fantastic.

I feel like asking for an apology from that fundy church pastor, from that 'cult' that we both know so well, for forcing that marriage, but what's done is done and we have beautiful children that wouldn't have otherwise existed.

Would love to talk to you. I'm at peter@mothrust.com

cya. Miss this Aimoo forum.
