The Rapture isn't anything like what you thought it'd be.It's like James Brown, and the "CHiPs" theme and something else, and something else, and something else, all put together...very innovative...Rapture

One of the 80's classic punk hits and arguably one of the first rap/hiphop hits.

Debbie Harry was one of my personal goddesses.

In exchange for obedience, Christianity promises salvation in an afterlife; but in order to elicit obedience through this promise, Christianity must convince people that they need salvation, that there is something to be saved from. Christianity has nothing to offer a happy person living in a natural, intelligible universe. If Christianity is to gain a motivational foothold, it must declare war on earthly pleasure and happiness, and this, historically, has been its precise course of action. In the eyes of Christianity, woman(man) is sinful and helpless in the face of God, and is potential fuel for the flames of hell. Just as Christianity must destroy reason before it can introduce faith, so it must destroy happiness before it can introduce salvation.

I found myself lusting after her again, and just reminiscing about the good ol' days at the Roller Disco. It wastheplace to be around here on Friday & Saturday nights, even though no alchohol was served on premises, but everybody still had a good time. However, that's not to say thatpeople weren't drunk and/or high--plenty were.Open to all ages, BYO, do it in the parking l

She's the girl you want hey' don't blame ya.....good ol' days..we went roller skating...rolled joints in the carpark, all leaf if I recall ....our local rink wasn't so much a disco thou'..more like '"HEAVEN for Rocker's"...- tough guys and gals wearing ripple soled suede boots and black T-shirts & short black skirts. Btw..I am STill  a shit skater!

I've see her in a couple of film - she's still beautiful.  ....you'd rememberRoller Derby....(clickie) .I used to watch at myfriends houses when I was a kid

Yes, still beautiful, even though she's a little older than my mom!  Yeah, I didn't know she was in any movies.  That's another thing I found out.  I imagine those are kinda hard to find...  Gonna have to put that on my long "to do" list anyway.

Yeah, I remember Roller Derby!  Good video ya found there!    It was on tv all the time, and was probably even more popular than men's wrestling for a few years.  In putting that previous post together, I spent about 2 hours at YT trying to find some good vintage video of brawling, women's roller derby style, without much success.  I think they were much better skaters and better fighters back then.  They were bigger and faster, more athletic, and understood how crucial momentum is in the effective delivery of pain.  Clothesline!!    Of course, a lot of it was fake, just like in wrestling, but sometimes they did really get mad at each other and people got seriously hurt.

There used to be a lot of motorcyle racing on ice back then, too.  It was on the tube often.  I think that sport originated in Eastern Europe.  The "spikes" on the tires were like needles!  Definitely not something you'd want to get run over by, but it happened occasionally.  Dangerous sport!!  I haven't seen that on tv in probably 20 years or more.

Overall, the quality of music, movies, tv, sports, and entertainment in general has been going to hell in a handbasket for almost 25 years, in my opinion.  I don't really care much for anything that's happened since the early to mid 80's except Candlemass, the Internet, Star Trek: TNG, and a few animated series [adult swim].  Oh yeah, glad there's something better for recording than tape now...  That experience sucked bad!
