WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT"Mad At God"Spare the bullshit of your savior's love for me. Take thy words and indulge inhis misery.Finding out that you're just a lamb of rot. No one cares in this world of god forgot. His belief in us long been said and gone. In our age where there is no fear of god.I forsake you andhate you holy one. Give us life just to take it when you're done.Behead you with the bible: the book of god and failing son. There is no resurrection, for god has left us to Satan.Reach out in desperation. Receive his empty words of love.Revel in man's creation. The light of god has turned to shit!Mad at god for the things he's done to me. For this life ofregrets andagony. In his name I do blame and wish his death. All my life has been pain and nothing else.Curse you god for the life you left me with. Every day is a fight to want to live.Cross of christ I despise and hate the lord. Mad at god for the world he has ignored...My life is not religion, salvation, or his bastard son.Annihilate the bible: remove it from this world at once.In total desecration, the house of god has been destroyed. At last the truth will triumph: free will and blasphamation one!--DEICIDE: Scars Of The Crucifix (2004)

I once was blind, but now I see

The forked-tongue saviour who supplanted himself on the tree

Faithful, fallen angel still bears the light...

Ancient one who bade us all to be clad in white!

My pastor used to say:  "Wait on the still, small voice."

Well, I waited...and waited...and waited.

Never heard a damned thing.

That is, until I bought Deicide's latest "Scars Of The Crucifix" cd.

Now I hear the voice.

It is the voice of one extremely pissed-off, diabolical, raging little Smurf

--and he speaks directly to my heart.

"The 144 Zillion"

144 zillion have sold their souls to walk in a city paved with streets of gold

144 zillion live in the biggest lie ever told!

144 zillion live by The Writ

144 zillion strolll through a megalopolis of shit!

--Where God almighty rules

And Jesus sits at His right hand crowned:  "King Of The Fools"!

Yeah, kneel before its evil!

Yeah, embrace new faith!

We're fasting toward anorexia now

Bound for Heaven and we don't care how

Nothin' left but skin and bones--

And the empty hole that can't be filled

The Bride of Christ will never be wed

Ex-Believers are the living dead!

Witness the miracle of resurrection

Witness Holy Father's affection

Surely, God will see our devotion

All of religion has been reduced to a notion!

Drown the Old Man

Do it now, as fast as you can!

New Man, rise from watery grave

Lose the life you tried to save!

Reserve your place according to His instruction

Prove your obedience through self-destruction!

We once saw through glass darkly

But now we see clearly

Change our lives Lord

Let's mark the progress yearly!

Just a closer walk with Thee

Has revealed your deviance in me

I pray your Spirit will abide

Quell the fear that keeps me pure inside!

Very, very good. I especially like the last line, "Quell the fear that keeps me pure inside!" That about sums it all up: fear is a common reason for belief in religion.

Thanks, Voltaire.  Being an ex-Adventist myself, I value your opinion because, well, ummm--I never met a dumb Adventist, just brainwashed ones.  I think you understand what I mean.  Anyway, I've been away for awhile.  I'm glad to see that you're still here at Walk Away using your talent to help others and I especially hope that you've been able to help some folks who are walking away from Adventism.  You are obviously very dedicated or you wouldn't still be here.

About the poem--the last line in particular--I received my inspiration from the song "New Faith," written by Rev. Kerry King of the All Day, Every Day, Free-Will Church Of God Hates Us All.  He is an enlightened man--a man after God's own heart!  I would encourage everyone to check him out.

Thanks again, Voltaire!  I'll post some more of my poetry soon and maybe we can talk a little more about inspiration.

Quite correct! I realized this when Satan tempted me to enjoy your poem. God didn't say anything at all.

Glad you enjoyed the poem, Voltaire!  I haven't heard from God either.  I thought maybe my open rebellion might bring him out of hiding but it isn't working.  Not a peep.  At least, not yet.  I have a theory about what's really going on.  Anyway, the so-called "omnipotent" god is the most shining example of impotence that I've ever seen--ummm, I mean haven't seen (I think).

Lord of Heaven, how great Thou art

You're almost as significant as a butterfly's fart

For 2,000 years we've waited for Armageddon to begin

You've only waited for 2

Come down from heaven, Yahweh

Your slaying is long overdue!

Second Coming? Resurrection?

We're dead tired of waitin'

Can't fINd GOD anywhere, now WE TRUST Satan!

For cast down angels, it's Heaven or bust

Determined every day to satisfy our lust

For hearing evilangelical choir beginning to sing

At the sight of God strangled with a piano string!

I smell worse than piss!  I smell worse than a dead, maggot-infested, skunk-weed smokin' skunk who's shit on his happy pants and been dead for 3 days in the baking summer sun on one of the remote bi-ways here in Turdhenge, Georgia.  I haven't showered, shaved, or brushed my teeth since last Friday.  What's more, I've been eatin' six-day-old butter beans...

What Would Jesus Eat?  Butter beans?  Six-days old?  Fartin' on the cross?!  No way, not Jesus!  I saw the old IRON MAIDEN video last night for the first time in aeons.  The dancing couple twirling across the stage with "6" on their backs.  Hell yeah, "The Number Of The Beast!"  "...I have the fire, I have the force, I have the power to make my evil take its course..."  Haha!  I'm just like Jesus.  By now, I stinketh!  I replayed that video about thirteen times and I swear I heard Mermaid Man scream, "Eeee-villlllll!!!"

Since leaving christianity almost 5 years ago, I've made it a point to explore the depravity of humanity--that includes my own depravity.  I've been chain smokin' Marlboro menthol 100's and I'm on my 19th beer for the day (I woke up late).  My blue eyes are perpetually bloodshot--I'm tryin' to be patriotic.  I've been at "Walk Away" under different names, off and on, from the very beginning when we were beachcombers and "Laguna Sunrise" would've made great theme music.  Anyway, lately, I've been foolin' around with my new Media Center computer.  I've made one helluva damn god playlist which I've dedicated to Lucifer or whatever the Deviant Lord Of This World's name really is.  I call it "Lux Ferre."  My heavy metal music collection has grown exponentially since I left christianity.  Media "Sinner" is also great for porn.  I spent $100 on 5 porn DVD's recently.  I've seen plenty of porn and thought I'd seen everything 'til I saw these.  It's impossible to grasp the full depth of human depravity without watchin' stuff like this.  My favorite bible verse is ecclesiastes 9:11 which says something like, "Time and chance happens to all men."  I would like to add:  "Especially to men with 10" horse peckers like Ron Jeremy."  Damn that Ron Jeremy!  People have accused the Pope, Ronald Reagan, and John Lennon of being the Antichrist, but I haven't heard anybody accuse Ron Jeremy of being such.  He's absolutely hideous and  grotesque, a real beast--totally "carnal."  But Ron knows how to "Get 'er done."  His success defies explanation.  There must be some supernatural, deviant power at work--or maybe not...

Hey, Ted, have you seen the "Never Say Die" DVD?

I have showered, shaved, and brushed my teeth--even cut my toenails.  Robert Schuller's got the "Hour Of Power" at The Crystal Cathedral.  I've got the "Hour Of Shower" here at The Succubus Sarcophagus .  Now it's time for a little nap, but first, a prayer:  "Now I lay me down to sleep..."

Hey, Ted, have you seen the "Never Say Die" DVD?

Damn...I haven't checked this section in months.  In answer to your question....If thats the show they play at the Hammersmith Odeon in, '78, then yes, I've seen it.  Actually, I used to have it on VHS...along with the Paris show from '70.  Ozzy's voice was kinda rough in the Never Say Die show....had the double chin thing going on too...along with the white frayed leather jacket...not a very good wardrobe choice when you have the chubby beer body thing going on....but it was still classic decadent late '70s era Sabbath.  Tony's guitar sounds so menacing live...I love it.  I would have loved to seen the 70s Sabbath live....I would have loved to seen Aerosmith in like 75 or 76....I would love to have seen the REAL GnR at a club show in 87 in LA.  Btw....I've listened to Sabbath since I was in 6th grade...they're one of my top three of all time...when I was in middle school....I would listen to Master of Reality on a daily basis...wore out more than several cassettes of that album.

Remember those "Super Saver" cassettes you could get out of the cassette bin at K-Mart?  I used to love those things!!....the bins were always loaded with Sabbath, Zeppelin, Aerosmith...along with a whole slew of other 70s rock bands.  $4.96 each....as a kid with little money...that allowed me to discover a whole bunch of new music when I was growing up.

Hammersmith Odeon?  Is that in Europe somewhere?  I bought the "Never Say Die" DVD about a year ago and expected to see the same show I saw on VHS around '85-'86 when my girlfriend rented it for me.  The cover photo was the same as it is now.  What I saw back then was definitely the NSD tour, but obviously in a different city.  The stage was much darker than on the current DVD release, Bill Ward had a smaller drum kit that wasn't on a platform as I recall, and Tony Iommi was very inanimate, even for him.  I always knew they stayed doped-up, but only recently learned that Iommi was particularly fond of Quaaludes.  Funny how he always gets criticized for "not moving around very much."  His playing is so great that he doesn't have to move around...doesn't have to rely on any asinine theatrics to make up for a lack of real musicianship like so many guitarists do nowadays.  Others can continue to whip the crowd into a frenzy by dressing up like the bloody, bandaged clowns that they are,  they can keep on smashing those guitars to bits, or they can jump off their stacks and do the fuckin' moonwalk--whatever--Tony Iommi don't have to.  In my opinion, the folks that complain about Tony Iommi's lack of showmanship are simply people who came to see nothing but a showman in the first place, and ended up hearing a musician instead.  They should've bought James Brown tickets--I hear he's still doin' splits!  Hehhe!   Anyway, I suspect that what I saw almost twenty years ago might've been a bootleg version that wound up at the local video store, or was perhaps the authorized version up until somebody discovered the current treasure in some dusty old can.

When I saw Ozzy's double chin and "chubby beer body" appearance in the Never Say Die DVD, he reminded me of Messiah Marcolin (Candlemass).  I think Beavis & Butthead made fun of Messiah for that "look" in one episode.  Hey, come to think of it, I'm starting to look like that!  Anyway, I like the old, chubby Ozzy better than the new Ozzy.

About GNR (short nostalgic story):  I was on spring break with my high school buddies in Panama City Beach soon after "Appetite For Destruction" was released.  At the time, it was THE shit, of course.  I can't think of GNR without also thinking about my time spent there that week.  I remember:  Beer, MTV, big red bong, "Paradise City" played full blast about every 30 minutes, pizza every day, moped rides, putt-putt, stoned motel rent-a-cop on patrol, and tape hiss--loved  "Super Saver."  I have bought new Sabbath cassettes at FYE for $3.99, and yes, K-mart.  I bought "Technical Ecstasy" there.  Hard for me to find tapes anymore, but some truckstops still have 'em.  I bought "Sabotage" at a truckstop in VA.

I believe the Hammersmith Odeon is in London, but I'm not certain.  But yeah, I'm totally with you on the old Ozz thing.  Its a damn shame what him and Sharon have done to his legacy....its hard to think back to a time when Ozzy was anything other than a running joke, or a poster child for drug abuse....it was much better when people believed he worshipped Satan.  A lot of kids (and hell, even alot of adults) aren't even aware of the REAL Ozzy.  I suppose they imagine that Ozzy is some eccentric old non-musician millionaire that MTV decided to hand a reality show to.

I think Ozzy would have done best to retire after The Ultimate Sin album and tour.  But even back then....he looked like a fat old woman in sequins with a bad perm and bad makeup....running around all coked-up on his goofy '86 stage set.  Perhaps Bark at the Moon should have been a fitting end to the Oz....I think thats his last solid album.  What do you think?  And hey....what is your favorite Ozzy or Sabbath era?  My favorite Ozzy work is probably Master of Reality and Vol. 4.  But then again....Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage are downright brilliant, too.  Tech Ec is also an overlooked classic....I love tunes like Backstreet Kids, All Moving Parts, Gypsy, etc....that album doesn't get the respect it deserves.  I love Never Say Die too....even though its a bit too experimental and drug-addled at times...

Yeah, since your posting I've stumbled on the locale of Hammersmith Odeon.  Pretty sure it's in London too.  Thanks for replying...I was starting to get bored.  This site ain't quite what it used to be--but then again, nothing is.  Had trouble getting through.  I've been battling a major computer virus for over a month.  $180 worth of anti-virus/anti-spyware software installed.  Tried everything, nothing worked.  Last night, had a power surge at home.   Had to reset all my clocks this morning.  Turned the 'puter on--keyboard totally unresponsive for the first time.  Computer locked up, wouldn't power down for first time.  Thought, "Oh, shit, where's my bloody sledge hammer?  $1200 worth of hp is about to be annihalated...damn it all to hell!...enough is enough!...to hell with technology like Unabomber said!!"  Then, I thought to turn the surge protector off, then on, to see if  'puter would behave.  Eureka!  Now it seems to work 95% what it did when it was new!  Maybe power surge acted as defibrillator...I dunno...  Anyway, it'll probably happen again as soon as I find that dirty, dirty picture of that gleaming, full-sized robot with the 750 rpm dildo hand, attacking that helpless lesbian...hahahaha!  Did anybody else see that?

Yeah, it IS a damn shame what Ozzy and Sharon have done to his legacy (mostly Sharon)....  I think Dok said something about Sharon's hand up Ozzy's ass months, years ago.  At the time, I didn't understand fully what has been goin' on, but I do now.  I think she helped him tremendously for the first couple of albums (mostly with just sobering up), but since then, she's only become a nagging mother-figure who has ruined his creativity.  Of course, his age had something to do with that also.  No need for Oz to be ashamed about that, it happens to everybody.

[The rest later]

Supertzar...you're right...this place is pretty fucking boring as of late....when you get the chance, hit me back and we'll talk about Ozzy or Sabbath or something....or, give me a list of other bands you dig.  Here's some of my faves:

Sabbath, absolutely ruled, definitive metal band

Aerosmith, doped-out 70s era...cool as fuck...

Guns N Roses...original lineup...around 87 to 88.  Rock and roll had finally reached its pinnacle...at least it did in my eyes.  Too bad Axl is such a reclusive weirdo fuck these days....I'd be curious to hear that Chinese Democracy album he's been "working" on during the last decade....but the dude has gotta release it first.  I hope he comes back without the braids this time...and without the football jerseys, too

I dig Bob Dylan alot, too.  I think all the different periods of his work are interesting.  He went through the born-again experience too, n all that....

Honorable mentions:

Sex Pistols

The Damned

The Misfits

Black Flag

Iron Maiden

Lynyrd Skynyrd

Nine Inch Nails

and many others!!

" There is no forgiveness without the shedding of blood."

I feel the need to bleed

Sacrifice,  and blood...

We'll ride the waves of the flood

In an ark made of wood

Salvation from God...

So benevolent and good

Who drowned all the rest...

'Cause our God is the best!

Reply to : Supertzar (Thrill of it all)Supertzar, tell me why I had to be a powerslave?

ted5870,

I appreciate your patience with me.  I've been lingering at the threshold of alcoholism for quite awhile now.  Last time I posted here I had to cover one eye with my hand to keep from seeing double/triple.  It worked.  For me, off = drunk.  I was a tee-totaller for about 5 years.  I've been making up for lost time since leaving christianity.

My buddy's older cousin used to buy beer for us when we were in high school.  He had names for us all: "Neanderthal Man," "Cro-Magnon Man."  He saw me drive up in my '74 lime green Chevy Suburban for the first time and named me "Ping-pong Man."  The only thing my ride lacked was a front tag depiction of the "Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath" album cover.  I'm not sure about the order, but he had been a police officer, real estate agent, and preacher.  I remember sitting in his trailer watching him light a Black Cat firecracker and hold it tight in his fist until it exploded.  He did that 2 or 3 times and said "Damn, that hurt worse than I thought it would."  His hand was red as a beet.  I'm not sure if he was stoned--I think he was just "high on life," which is another term for "burnout."  He was a poet, and I read some of what he had written down in old notebooks from his schooldaze in the '70s.  Reminded me of Jim Morrison.  He totaled something like 13 cars and had the pictures to prove several of them.  He got his jollies from showing those to everybody.  He had a '70 or early '80-something Corvette.  We used to get drunk and take it places most people would be afraid to take a fuckin' Jeep.  We're from Georgia.  The Dukes of Hazzard didn't have nothin' on us.  No airborne TV bullshit.  More like that Lowrider song.  I thought we would get hung up on a boulder but we never did with his 'Vette.  He did hang my Volkswagen up though.  He said I was too drunk to drive and he knew the location of every obstacle.  Haha!  Anyway,  by chance, I heard lately that he wasn't doing well.  Called his cousin up for the first time in several years.  We got drunk.  I spent the night.  He said his cousin is now a permanent resident of the mental ward at a local hospital.  It seems the last fixation before they put him away was writing things on walls (poetry?) and then tearing the walls down with a sledgehammer.

As for me, I've been jacked-up on "Smarties" and Coors Light.  Got lots of Smarties left over from Halloween.  No trick-or-treaters came to see me.  They say there's always one house in the neighborhood--guess it's mine!  And I didn't even get those concrete gargoyles I wanted to put on the front porch.  Anyway, I've been puking Smarties and Coors Light off the back deck.  Makes me feel like a pirate.  Then, after about 2-3 seconds, when my head clears, I feel like Einstein and I briefly feel like I can finally do calculus.  Then I come to my senses and just grab another beer...

Finally, about "Powerslave":  I think that song has a great galloping, headbanging rhythm to it like "A Cry From The Crypt," by Candlemass.  Olde-metal was in its deaththroes when this song was released.  In fact, it may be Olde-metal's last hoorrah.  For me, as a Walk Awayer, this song has other, deep meanings for those who know metal and the whole walking away experience--especially those who have been in the thicke of christian fundamentalism like adventism (me), worldwide church of god ("armstrongism"), and other sabbatarian groups.  We were a different breed from "nominal" christians.  A whole different enchilada.  I know you know the words to the song, ted5870, but I think some of them need repeating here for those who don't.  I hear them already:  "But it doesn't even rhyme!"  True, not much rhyming here.  But if you have a killer, hard-driving riff and an awesome solo, you don't need rhyme.  Slayer is very good at it.  It flows if you listen.  Metal pulls this off better than any other genre of music, 'cause it is more advanced.  Yes, I said "advanced."  With metal,  the lyrics support the music.  In everything else, the music supports the lyrics.  And when you're not constrained by the rhyming requirement, you can be more expressive with your lyrics.  Also, with metal, if you play one  bad note it's a very grave mistake.  If you play two bad notes, it's no longer metal--it's rock.  If you play three bad notes it's country.  And if you play four bad notes--well, that's jazz.  I like rearranging/omitting certain stanzas of songs to fit my life, so I'll do it here:

When I was living this lie, fear was my game

People would worship and fall--drop to their knees

So bring me the blood and red wine for the one to succeed me

For he is a man and a god, and he will die too!

Tell me why I had to be a Powerslave

I don't want to die, I'm a god, why can't I live on?

When the Lifegiver dies, all around is laid waste...

And in my last hour I'm a slave to the power of death!

Silent the terror that reigns, marbled in stone

A shell of a man God preserved for a thousand ages

Into the abyss I fall, the eye of Horus

Into the eyes of the night, watching me go

Green is the cat's eye that glows in this temple

Now I am cold but a ghost lives in my veins

Enter the risen Osiris, risen again

Open the gates of my hell and I'll strike from the grave!

Alright, ted, you talked me into it...  I'm off and drunk again.  Let's talk about Ozzy.  Seems he is now a cover band.  I think that's a great idea, considering he hasn't done any worthwhile shit since Bark At The Moon.  He should've become a cover band 20 years ago.  He's just been wastin' his time for that long.  Zakk Wylde is a great guitarist with a unique, heavy, ball bustin' sound all his own.  Unfortunately, everyone has trouble comin' up with killer riffs for a long time now 'cause they've been taken already.  Iommi found most of them.  Hell, the "King of the Riff" can't even come up with good riffs anymore...  Anyway, the only thing I like on Ozzy's new "Under Cover" album is Mississippi Queen.  I don't know who picked the song list, but it sucks rotten monkey ass.  I'd like to know what songs you would've picked.  I've come up with a few.  I'll see if I can add to it and come up with 13 eventuallly.  I won't put them in any certain order for now.

The Green Manalishi (Judas Priest style)

Genghis Khan [solo] (Iron Maiden)

Killers (Iron Maiden)

Barracuda (Heart) May 19, '06--May 18, '07 is "Year of the Barracuda"

"Truespin"

A Cry from the Crypt (Candlemass)

Eruption [Solo] (Van Halen)

Runnin' with the Devil (Van Halen)

Flirtiin' with Disaster (Molly Hatchet)

Achilles Last Stand (Led Zeppelin)

God Bless the Children of the Beast [Solo] (Motley Crue)

Helter Skelter (Motley Crue style)

Cross Eyed Mary (Jethro Tull)

Cat Scratch Fever (Ted Nugent)

Ride On (AC/DC)

Keep Away (Godsmack)

Seven Faces (Slayer)

You are "The Living Dead!"

All of Us, all...

Stillborn dead,

Before Lucifer's fall...

No reply to me at all

The Devout prey at Western Wall

Angel of Death, flying so high...

"Kingdom of God" is such a lie!

Angel of Death, eternally soaring...

Son Of God...is so boring!

But Holy Spirit  is mysterious in His ways...

New Destruction,

Awaits Us to-day...

Stand aside,

I'll make "The Way!"

Hey, I saw that Ozzy cover album advertised on cable TV.  I thought about getting it, but much as I hate to admit it, the Oz's voice isn't really what it used to be, so I passed on it.  I'm gonna have to come up with my own list of songs I'd like to hear Ozzy cover...I hope to post it soon.  Too bad you can't go back in time and have Ozzy record a cover album in like, 1982!!  That would rule.  Hey....did you ever hear Ozzy doing a cover of the Bee Gee's Stayin Alive?  I don't know if it was ever released, but its pretty easy to find on a p2p network.

Ride On with Ozzy would be quite interesting.  Achilles Last Stand by Zeppelin....thats an interesting choice...I would have never imagined what Ozzy would sound like singing it.  Actually, I think the whole Presence album rules...its no Physical Graffitti, but its still great.  Helter Skelter with Ozzy would rock.  One Priest song I'd love to hear Ozzy sing would be Beyond the Realms of Death.  As far as Slayer, I think Oz would do a good South of Heaven.

I saw a clip of Ozzy performing recently....was it at the RnR Hall of Fame induction?  Anyway...he was doing Crazy Train...had Zakk aboard with him....I just hated the guitar tone and the overall sound of the band....its like they took the "Metal" out of the sound.  I guess Ozzy has gotta do what he's gotta do....in order to keep Sharon happy....and to keep happy his new "fans" who know him from The Osbournes and Pepsi TV commericals.
