My ex-fiance in the 1980's was convinced that Bob Geldof was the Anti-Christ. I ask you! How can this be so?I would argue back and he would say that Bob Geldof had come from nowhere and was seen as an idol because of Live Aid. In fact Bob Geldof had achieved fame with the Boomtown Rats in 1977 but my fiance, because he didn't have a TV or read newspapers didn't realise that. I felt like contacting Bob Geldof through his agent or record company and inviting him down to that pentecostal church where my fiance was an elder to give his point of view but I was scared. I wish I had done so now. When I told my counsellor, the Quaker chaplain, about this years later he explained that some fundies who get guilty about not giving to Third World charities feel guilty about it and project their self hatred on somebody like Bob Geldof who was doing something about it.

On some Fundie message boards people are saying your Royal Highness, Prince Charles. Why? I really don't understand. American Fundies believe the Anti-Christ will come out of Europe. Lately, they are concerned with the rise of the Euro, and the European Union. I'm sure Fundies think that the Anti-Christ might be a future (or current) president of the European Union.  There is this idea floating around that he will come out of Romania, one reason being that strange secret occult rituals are allegedly performed there, and some Fundies think it could be a demonic point of origin for the Anti-Christ. LaHaye uses this in his Left Behind series.

There was this rumor going around that President Kennedy survived the fatal shot to the head and Jackie O. had him living in the Greek Islands somewhere. Belief in the Rapture and a forthcoming One-World Government turns many Fundies into conspiracy nuts.

Who is Bob Geldof ?

Also in the movie The Omega Code, Mrs. Anti-Christ was a humanitarian, doing the Anti-Christ's PR work, while Jeremy Irons was some two-dementional son of a bitch who was directly responsible for the judgmental natural disasters.  Apparently, Paul Crouch thinks New Years Day is observed by pondering the end of the world, so he shows The Omega Code on TBN.

Whoa there Brother V!

That was Michael Ironside, not Jeremy Irons. Jeremy Irons would not be in fundy films.

I know it nit picking, but I like Jeremy Irons.

When I was a fundie I had the funny feeling that the anti-Christ would be Prince Charles but that was over 15 years ago.

Bob Geldof was the lead singer of the Boomtown Rats during the 1970's and early 1980's.  He was born in Ireland and was once a rock journalist.  In 1984 he became concerned about mass famine in Ethiopia and got together with other artists to record "Do they know it's Christmas" to raise funds.  In July 1985 he organised a huge one day festival on both sides of the Atlantic called "Live Aid" to raise funds.  In the UK it took place in London.  He popularised the notion of rock stars performing gigs and making records to raise money for charity.

He was married to Paula Yates and had three children by her.  She left him for Michael Hutchence and when they both died he adopted their small daughter.  He is now a folk singer and media magnate.
