OK so I can sing - sorta - and the boss knows it cos of past kareoke nights (which I miss!)

Now months ago two of my colleagues started going to my boss's church.

Then one day - you guessed it! - she pounced on me!

Are you Muslim now? Oh gee just cos I'm married to one I must have converted! Uh NO! Are you looking for a church? I forget my answer I think I said not really but I forget.

You should come to my church.  Join the choir, you have a great voice.

Well I said, seeing as I'm the only one not doing an extra job here I will.

I didn't feel that happy about it of course, being an EX Christian and all! But I thought better that than taking on more stuff at work!

Later on she gave me more stuff anyway so I thought stuff the church I'm NOT going.  I'd be lying with every song I sang anyway!

PLUS I gave up ENOUGH of my weekends to church!

Well anyway, a few months later my colleague told me she and our other colleague who had been singing in the choir at boss' church were told if they wanted to keep singing there they had to join the church!!!!

I wonder if the boss knew this all along?

They DID "join the church" but one of them rarely goes now and the other one was told by the boss later on "Let's try and do better this year with church attendance" and that colleague was cheesed off cause as she says that's HER time it's HER business whether to go or not!

ANYhoo, as hard as these extra things at work have been (over soon hopefully!) at least I didn't get sucked into THAT trap!! PHEW! And WHAT a CON job!

Yes I AM too cool for church! Jesus is NOT waaay cool I AM! Am I"m real and he"s NOT SO...!

I used to be into Jesus
But now I"ve kicked the habit
Now I have REALLY seen "the light" and know the REAL truth and the Truth - not the lie of christianity! - has set me free!

"..When you"re inside the pig, it"s so warm and comfortable and feels wonderful. Then you get out and you realise the hideous monster that"s been accomodating you!" (From a book, talking about during and after bad relationships but SO appropriate here too!)

In exchange for obedience, Christianity promises salvation in an afterlife; but in order to elicit obedience through this promise, Christianity must convince people that they need salvation, that there is something to be saved from. Christianity has nothing to offer a happy person living in a natural, intelligible universe. If Christianity is to gain a motivational foothold, it must declare war on earthly pleasure and happiness, and this, historically, has been its precise course of action. In the eyes of Christianity, woman(man) is sinful and helpless in the face of God, and is potential fuel for the flames of hell. Just as Christianity must destroy reason before it can introduce faith, so it must destroy happiness before it can introduce salvation.

It looks like the boss is using the workplace to recruit more members to his church and then using them to recruit and so on except it's not done in a sublte way.  It's like your colleague has to keep up recruiting numbers in the same way she has to keep up targets in her job and they're using any method which they think might work.  Isn't this sort of thing illegal?
