This thread is for your ideas and suggestions. Please let me know if you have any other ideas for this category; I'm really interested in your input. One thing I'm interested in knowing is whether we should do just one book at at time. I'm wondering if we should treat this category kind of like a class where we deal with a sequence of books, with the books being chosen in the order people need in order to recover from religious fundamentalism.
First I feel that this is a fantastic idea! I have found over my months here that we are a group that loves to read and I have found my way to many great books that were referred by other members.
I think, so far as the format goes, it may be beneficial to incorporate both methods that you mentioned. Distinguish the threads by titling them as referrals or ongoing studies. Both would be beneficial to all, allowing reviews, commentary and open discussion with regards to contents and applicability.
Along with these, I'm sure that there are people like myself who are looking for books on certain topics and could use the assistance of those who could steer us in the right direction.
I'm greatly looking forward to the evolution of this category! Thank you Voltaire and St. Thomas!!

How about this: one thread for for book reviews called "Book Reviews" , and another thread for Book Referrals called "Book Referrals". I could maintain an index at the top of both threads that has a list of books covered in the thread.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Zombies, Unicorns, Devils, Sea Monsters, Satyrs, Dragons, Six Winged Angels, Gods, Demons, Witches, Astrologers, A walking & talking snake, Magical fruit, Talking donkeys, human headed six-winged beasts, Ghosts. All that stuff is in the Bible and yet they tell me it"s not mythology?

That sounds really good. I'm looking forward to this new section!

I think I've got a better idea. Just have an extra thread called "Reviews And Referrals" for each book. That way the thread will show up in the stone stupid search utility Aimoo has. I'll update the Introduction And Guidelines thread and let me know what you think.
Remember this is all an experiment to see if we can come up with a way of organizing things so they can be found. Keep on giving me your ideas!

Hey, Voltaire,
It strikes me that there are already a few threads in the "Resources" section that give lists of interesting books that might prove more useful in this catagory. I found two here:
Top 10 Fundy Books
Walk Away Books
We could move them over here into a general resources area to give folks a reading list. Go ahead and move them if you like. Seems like a great place to put all lists of potential helpful reading material.

If you're looking for confirmation to say this is a good idea: Yippie, Hurrah, Exlaimation! Bring it on... sounds like a great idea. I "eat books like air" so I'm always interested in other people's suggestions!

am drunk as i write this so ignore typos...please!
dead sea scrolls - the actual texts should be a must. realising a wierd group of fellas 2000 years ago were fundies kinda helps you feel less daft about being a fundy (then ex) yourself in this century. trust me it works!
secondly...how about helpful songs? losing my religion being the most obvious but strange fire by the indigo girls is cool also.

Just a suggestion: there's lots of good reading on the web, so maybe we could have threads where we discuss good websites?

The best book I have read on the subject is "The Case Against God" by George H. Smith.
